All Things Visa + a Little Tip on Cash

For your visa, you have two options:
Travel to your nearest CPH Embassy (for me it would've been SFO) prior to study abroad for biometrics scans
This will be the substantially pricier option, including travel costs and additional shipping costs for the scans to go to CPH
Wait until you arrive in CPH to do your biometrics
While still a couple hundred dollars, this option is much cheaper since you can do it while in CPH
Travel concerns?
If you hold a US passport, you will have no issues remaining in CPH for up to 3 months
If you have not received your visa, you must call the SIRI office and request a temporary travel approval document indicating that you are still waiting but have approval to leave the Schengen area
While you wait for your visa, it is important to check-in with SIRI in a relatively frequent manner. If you have been waiting for more than 40 days, I recommend calling the SIRI office and requesting a status update. Sometimes, they will email you requesting you call them to submit new forms.
Once your visa is approved, CBS will receive a digital copy. SIRI can not send this to you because of internet security reasons and your lack of a CPR number attached to your digital accounts. If you are in desperate need of the approval letter for immediate travel purposes, you can submit a ticket on the CBS student portal requesting the digital copy.
Note on Cash: As it relates to cash, you will not need Danish krones for daily life, but it is helpful to have at least 100 USD-worth if you want to visit the flea markets. At the end of your semester, you can just use your remaining cash to pay for your groceries.
