Commuting in CPH

Copenhagen is truly a beautiful city, and their urban planning is one to be amazed by (if you get a chance, do check out the Danish Architecture Center - it's entertaining for all ages, but especially interesting for those interested in architecture, design, or urban planning).
In Copenhagen, you will have many means of transportation:
Bikes (Swapfiets monthly rentals, Donkey Republic/Lime per-ride rentals)
Bus
Metro
Local S-Trains
For all public transport, you can choose between Rejelskort or DSB - both of which have per-ride swipe or monthly commuter card options. Keep in mind that these options, especially metro, are quite expensive. However, if you anticipate using the metro at least 40 times a month and live far from campus or where you must go, the commuter card is incredibly worth it.

Since I lived outside of the city center, having a commuter card was a pretty straight-forward decision. While expensive, I almost exclusively rode the metro (with the exception of a few Lime/Donkey Republic rides), and I found it very convenient.
Metro checks!! Be aware that metro attendants are always on board and will check you for a ticket. If you are just swiping in and out, make sure you do it before your hop on the metro, otherwise your data may fail you and that 750 dkk fine will be waiting for you. The same applies for busses, though the checks are much less frequent (but I've definitely been checked at least three times!).
